Parshas Korach.

From Hirschel Pekkar.

Only after the miracle of the staff of Aharon, which produced almonds overnight, to indicate that Aharon was the chosen one by Hashem to be the High Priest, did the complaints of the Bnei Yisroel subside.
Question 1. Why was not the miracle of Korach and his followers enough to stop the murmurings, especially as Moshe Rabeinu said “by this you will know that Hashem sent me, and the man that Hashem has chosen, he is Holy” ?
Question 2.  What was so special about the miracle of the staff, that it could halt the murmurings of the Bnei Yisroel ?
Question 3. Why does The Torah emphasize “they saw, and each man took his staff” seeing is a natural function?
Question 4.  Rashi says, that “the almonds were a bunch, yachad kfusim “ – together, tight together. But if the almonds were “kfusim” – tight together, why does Rashi have to say the word “yachad” – together?

With one answer all the above, B.E.H. will become clear.
With the miracle of the staff, Hashem hinted to the heads of the tribes, the reason why Aharon was chosen.
by the miracle of Korach no reason was given, (this shows the importance of giving a reason,.)  this hint is what “they saw”. They saw a piece of wood (the staff)  separated from the tree, which was it’s source of life, and nourishment, it became dry and hard, and was nevertheless able to produce fruit.   This hint was telling them what Aharon accomplished with people, who became cut off from their spiritual source of life, namely their Jewish heritage, “dried out” from performing mitzvos, called “brious” – creatures, whose only attribute was that Hashem had created them, Aharon, through the “oheiv es habrious” his love of a fellow Jew, brought them back to Torah and Mitzvos, to produce fruit, and to reveal in them their inner holiness, in Hebrew, “shkeidim” has the same letters as  ”kdoshim” – holy, and also revealed in them the attribute of “ahavas Yisroel” as hinted to by Rashi, by the words of “yachad kfusim”  yachad – bleiv echod –with one heart, it is a spiritual expression used for the angels, “yachad kulom kdusho”  kfusim – k-ish echod,  like one man, a physical expression. Why were both expressions needed ? sometimes people can be davening in the same shool –kfusim – tight together physically, but are in opposition spiritually.
Aharon made their ahavas Yisroel complete, and that was the hint that they saw, ( ahavas Yisroel does not mean that one has to change his attitude to please his friend, but that even when his friend has a different approach to his, he nevertheless gives him every respect and help that he can. This we can learn from the “arba Minim”  which represent Jews with different approaches in their service, coming together, to elicit the blessing from above.) why Aharon was chosen.  By hinting to the tribe leaders, instead of telling them directly, was to indicate to them that they are considered as chachomim, like it says “ a hint suffices for the wise”, so that they should not feel dejected for being rejected. This is also an aspect of Aharon, of ahavas Yisroel, not to embarrass.
Before this miracle, Hashem said to Moshe, that through this miracle “ I will make to cease from Me the murmurings of the Bnei Yisroel, which they murmur against you”. First from Me, then from you. About the performance of mitzvos it says “vchi bohem” – you should live with them, just as with life, one cannot take a break from living, so also with mitzvos, they have to be continual. So when does one take free time to murmur against Moshe Rabeinu ? it must be when he is not busy with observing mitzvos, this is tantamount to murmuring against Me, then this is followed by “against you” the leaders.  This is then the meaning of “vayikach Korach” he took “free time” ( in hebrew the mispar koton of the word “vayikach” is the same as the mispar koton of the word “zman” – time.) to rebel against Moshe Rabeinu, and for that matter, when one rebels against persons in an official leadership position, like a Rabbi in the synagogue or in a Jewish court of law, for example, it is similar as rebelling “against Me” – Hakodosh Boruch Hu, “against Me and against you”,  Like Hashem said to Shmuel hanovy, “it is not you they despised, but it is Me they despised.
Through this aspect of “yachad kfusim”, indicating ahavas Yisroel as mentioned above, we will merit the third and everlasting Beis Hamikdosh, about which it says, “omdim tzfufim” tight together –kfusim,“umishtachavim rvochim” –bowing in ample space, yachad – that each assists the friend (all Jews) with ample space to fulfill his personal avodah, the aspect of ahavah, Then like it says, “ bzos yovo Aharon” the Hebrew word “bzos” is the same numerical value as “b-ahavas” will once again bring our beloved Kohen Godol Aharon hakohen, with Moshe Rabeinu, together with the entire Jewish nation, into our Holy Temple, speedily in our days, OMEIN
