THE AMAZING DEAD SEA
The Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth and the largest "Natural Spa" in the world, is also one of the world's true natural wonders and a unique tourism destination. Less than an hour's drive from Jerusalem, it is 417 meters below sea level with mineral-rich waters and mud flow with natural health and beauty benefits acclaimed globally. But that's not all. Visitors to the Dead Sea come to a world of blue skies, year-round sunshine, magnificent natural landscape, and extraordinary touring options, such as thrilling encounters with history and exploration of the living desert. Add to this a wide range of beaches, hotels, spas, restaurants and leisure-time activities, and you have a destination with extraordinary attractions and benefits.  Recognized as a mini-universe with its own micro-climate, the Dead Sea is the saltiest and most mineral-laden body of water in the world. The unparalleld buoyancy and warmth of the water has everyone floating. And its health promoting thermo-mineral springs and world famous cosmetic black mud have been praised by visitors for millennia.

The water of the Dead Sea contains very important minerals like sodium, magnesium, calcium, bromine, bitumen, potassium, chlorine and zinc. 12 of these cannot be found in any other sea or ocean .Some are recognized for imparting a relaxing feeling, nourishing the skin, activating the circulatory system and for easing rheumatic discomfort and metabolic disorders.

The DEAD SEA contains 10 times more salts and minerals than the Mediterranean Sea or any other oceanic water. Its mineral content is significantly different from that of ocean water, consisting of approximately:

•        53% magnesium chloride

•        37% potassium chloride
•        8% sodium chloride (salt)

The bromide ion concentration is the highest of all waters on Earth.

While in other seas sodium chloride is 97% of the salts, in the Dead Sea the quantity of NaCl is only 12-18%.
